Concept Feedback - Free Website Suggestions

Concept Feedback I love the concept of "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" - and that's exactly why I love the idea around the free service called Concept Feedback.

Concept Feedback is a place where people of all backgrounds and skill sets come together to critique and provide constructive feedback on website design, logos, advertising and more. It's a quick and easy way to find out how others view your design and content ideas.

So, before you decide to launch that new website redesign or print those business cards with your new logo, I suggest you sign up for your free Concept Feedback account and post your ideas for the world to see and critique.

The Birth of Concept Feedback

Concept Feedback is the brainchild of Andrew Follett, a marketing director for a business outside of Chicago.

When completing various website and ad campaigns, Andrew would send the finished product to co-workers, friends and family for a second opinion. While this generated some good response, more often than not, people were not really qualified to respond or failed to do so altogether.

In trying to find a better venue for all types of web and ad design feedback, Concept Feedback was born. Today, Concept Feedback is a great way to get quality, actionable feedback, and lots of it, in a short period of time.

How Concept Feedback Works

Registering for a free Concept Feedback account is quick and simple. You simply enter your name, email, select a password and your done. After confirmation of your account, you're ready to go.

So what exactly can you use Concept Feedback for? Here are my recommendations.

  • Website Designs
  • Advertisements
  • Logos
  • Flash Presentations
  • Videos
  • Landing Pages
  • Banner Ads

In the tradition of "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours," you must give a little before you're able to receive. Concept Feedback requires you to post five reviews on others' design concepts before you post your own.

Every time you post feedback on someone else's concept or otherwise engage the system, you earn "Reputation Points." Keeping your feedback constructive, having your reviews "voted up" by other users, and actively engaging the community all helps increase your reputation. The more reputation points you earn, the more concepts you can post to the community.

Concepts are posted menu-style, which makes it easy to find concepts you want to review. As you can see from the screenshot below, each concept is tagged with review stats.

Once you have reviewed five other concepts, you are allowed to post your own. This is easily done by clicking the "Post Concept" link. This takes you to the posting screen (see screenshot below) and provides guidelines for posting your concept and filling in the proper information.

Once your concept is posted, it won't take long to get feedback. Whenever a new review is posted on your concept, you will be provided with an email that summarizes the review and provides a link to read it online.

Final Words and Recommendations

I highly recommend this free service to all small business owners, marketers and designers. It's a quick and easy way to get simple and direct feedback on just about any design idea you can imagine.

In preparing this review, I posted my homepage for review. I was somewhat surprised by the consistency of comments on the design. This is where Concept Feedback really shines. While you should be careful changing your concept because of one or two reviews, when you find the same issues appearing over and over again, you can be pretty confident about the advice you are receiving.

Concept Feedback is a great example of how the Internet can be used to build a strong community of users centered around a specific need. I highly recommend you check it out today and get set up for your free account. Click the below link to get started.
